Welcome to the Penelope Terry Abbey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

If you are visiting this site, you may already be a Daughter, or maybe you want to become a Daughter!  What better way to honor our heritage and the freedoms we as Americans enjoy than to belong to a group dedicated to preserving what makes our country so great!  We hope you will join us as we celebrate the past, actively participate in the present, and work to pass along this great tradition to future generations.

About Us

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a vibrant and growing volunteer organization that is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women's service organization dedicated to promoting:

  • Patriotism
  • Historic Preservation
  • Education

Who are DAR members?

They are women who come from diverse backgrounds and hold a variety of interests.  Their common bond is their lineal descent from patriots of the American Revolution - ANY woman, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove this lineage is eligible to join.

They are women who...

  • care about fostering good citizenship
  • want to honor their ancestors
  • are devoted to educating our youth
  • want to preserve our past for future generations
